viva-vegas salvific moments, modern day lepers, and movement…

This past MLK weekend I was in Las Vegas at Student CPx, which was a conference geared towards training student church planters. It was truly one of the most profound and revelatory weekends of my life. I spoke twice on Saturday. In the afternoon about different types of evangelism cultures on campuses that are seen among Christians. Then that night about awakening transitioning into reformation. Two young adult women from Korea were present who have major influence with celebrities in Korea. I cannot say who, but you would recognize names. In the past three weeks they have planted 14 organic churchs among them. I felt like God said to bring them up to commission them. My friend Sam Lee, who is also Korean, prayed for them while I laid hands on them. I won’t go into details, but the kingdom opposite of the Kingdom of God went into action the rest of the weekend. Good thing we are fighting FROM victory, not for it.

At this conference there were 5 water baptisms. They weren’t planned, but happened as the Spirit led. Two of the students came to Christ at the conference. One from MIT and the other led to Christ during the conference from UNLV. The other 3 were led to Christ days before the conference. The incredible part about the baptisms was the fact that the students that led these to Christ were the one’s who baptized them in the middle of campus outside. The church has it messed up when we have “professionals” baptizing people they for the most part have little relationship with. I spoke to so many students who were 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generation disciples. That is very rare in the church today. After the students came back in from being baptized, spontaneously all the other students gathered around them and prayed. I was standing next to Jaeson Ma and we both saw a mantle descend into the room from heaven. The atmosphere shifted and everyone sensed it. I began to pray into it and sensed God saying that it was the Spirit of Adoption falling on a generation of orphans. I then heard God say that this weekend would be written about…that it was the start of a movement. I am struggling to put language to what actually took place this weekend. Language cannot do justice to describe what happened.

Many students were physically healed, baptized in the Holy Spirit, and believing God wants to use them to bring the Kingdom in power on their campuses. I believe with every fiber of my being that a movement is beginning. It is one that is ushering in a new wineskin. One that will see many orphans coming into God’s family. It isn’t going to be one organization, denomination, or celebrity ministers who can put there names on it. It is going to be different streams flowing together into an ocean of possibilities.

This past Wednesday we did a table at UCSD with a banner that simply says, “free encouraging words”. The purpose is to pray for students, prophesy, and believe God will download specific revelation for students. I went away from the table for a little bit and came back to see one of the students praying for another one. He asked if I could help. We were praying that God would heal his back. In the middle of praying, he said, “I probably should know God before He heals me”. So, I prayed with him to accept Jesus and he did! It was honestly the easiest salvation I have ever been a part of.

Yesterday, myself and two other students went to the LGBT at UCSD. God has been telling us to go there and be light. You know, rooms filled with candles don’t need more candles. We are to be light, which means we have to go where it’s dark. The LGBT is a modern day leper colony. The homosexual community are the new lepers to the church. If Jesus were alive today, he would hang out in gay bars…yes, that’s exactly where he would be. The most offensive place to religious people. God is calling us to plant seeds here and it’s been awesome. We feel so much peace when we are there. It’s like God is saying, “YES!”.Pray for us as we plant seeds to see the Kingdom grow.

Well, I am still unpacking and processing through everything that has happened in the last several days, but this is just a glimpse into it. Now, I watch and wait for God’s wave and pray that I can not go ahead or lag behind…but just ride it…

  1. i totally quoted you on my blog. pwahahahah spiritual plagiarism!

  2. I could not agree more with your observations and keen reporting on Vegas. It was an honor to be in the room as the atmosphere of heaven spilled onto earth.

During the baptisms, I could feel the sound in the spirit as rejoicing in heaven and earth collided over the City of Las Vegas and over the campus in particular. And once we returned inside, it was a very “thin place” and the presence of God and the host of the heavens hovered there. The Spirit of the Almighty God marking young men and young women for Himself and for His glory.

And He is transforming the identity of a generation… one heartbeat at a time. From orphans to adoption, from slaves to heirs, from servants to lovers… Amazing…
